Brooke Pakistan Wins CSR Award 2026 in the “Crisis & Disaster Assistance” Category
National recognition for Brooke Pakistan’s rapid, life-saving flood relief operations that supported over 14,300 animals and 60,350 vulnerable community members across Punjab, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In recognition of its outstanding frontline emergency response and humanitarian leadership during catastrophic monsoon flooding, Brooke Pakistan has been awarded the prestigious National CSR Award 2026 in the “Crisis / Disaster Assistance” category.
Emergency Relief with a Rapid, Frontline Humanitarian Operation
When devastating floods inundated vast agricultural and peri-urban belts across Punjab, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, vulnerable daily-wage families were left stranded without shelter, clean drinking water, or food. For these families, their working equines—horses, donkeys, and mules—are not merely animals, but their sole source of income and survival.
Life-Saving Emergency Care: Provided emergency medical treatment, wound dressings, and critical care for 12,471 injured and diseased animals, bringing total animal relief to 14,314 animals.
Protecting Human Lives & Food Security: Delivered essential relief to more than 60,350 people from equine-owning households, distributing 4,195 human family ration packages.
Fodder Supply Chains in Inundated Zones: Distributed 9,500 bags of animal feed and high-nutrition fodder, preventing mass starvation and secondary metabolic collapse in floodwaters.
Disease Prevention & Vaccination: Vaccinated over 6,000 animals in close coordination with provincial livestock and dairy development departments to prevent deadly waterborne disease outbreaks.
Mobilising Grassroots Volunteers: Deployed a coordinated workforce of over 218 volunteers, Animal Health Providers (AHPs), Brooke associates, and community change agents.
Sustainable Community Recovery
As floodwaters receded, Brooke Pakistan transitioned from emergency relief to rehabilitation:
Housing Reconstruction: Collaborating with the Sindh People’s Housing for Flood Affected (SPHF) project, where 100 equine-owning families have completed resilient homes, with an additional 343 houses under construction.
Fodder Independence & Kitchen Gardens: Partnering with the Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) to distribute kitchen gardening kits and establish community alfalfa plots, buffering families against external market shocks.
Community Revolving Funds (CRFs): Activating 187 self-managed community funds and 77 collective ration hubs to sustain healthcare and animal nutrition independently.
During disasters, working animals are often the forgotten victims. Yet, when an equine perishes, a family loses its ability to transport relief supplies, rebuild homes, or earn a livelihood after floodwaters recede. This CSR Award honors our frontline staff and volunteers who waded through chest-deep waters to ensure no working animal or vulnerable family was left behind.
