Brooke Hospital for Animals (Pakistan) is a not-for-profit organisation incorporated under Section 42 of the Companies Act, 2017, and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) as a public company limited by guarantee.
Since 1991, Brooke Pakistan has been working across the country to improve the health and welfare of working horses, donkeys, and mules. We achieve this by effectively engaging communities to build their capacity to improve equid welfare, strengthening local animal health systems, and advocating with national and international stakeholders to influence changes in policies and practices that benefit both working animals and the livelihoods of the households that depend on them.
Brooke Pakistan is driven by a dedicated team of 143 professionals across the country. Our staff includes skilled veterinarians, social science experts, and finance and people management specialists. Together, we combine technical expertise with community insight to improve equine welfare and human livelihoods. Our team works with passion and purpose to create lasting change for working equids and their owners.

Brooke Pakistan works in 43 districts across Pakistan, divided into 7 regions. Our community-based equine welfare program includes service delivery, community development, advocacy, partnership, and applied research to ensure healthy working animals for the poorest communities. Brooke Pakistan has worked in over 3,000 communities (2638 brick kilns, 212 coal mines, and 200 workplace communities), improving the health and welfare of 273,000 equids, benefiting 550,000 animal owners and users. Our advocacy initiatives, i.e., animal welfare laws and liaison with government livestock departments and academia, ensured a positive impact on the lives of 1,150,000 animals indirectly.
