Brooke Pakistan continued to strengthen the skills and performance of trained farriers through targeted mentoring and skills development under the Farriery Mentoring Framework (FMF). During the year, 403 monitoring and mentoring visits were conducted, including joint sessions led by Brooke instructor farriers and district mentor farriers.

These visits focused on improving practical trimming and shoeing techniques, promoting safe farriery practices, and strengthening five critical elements of quality, welfare-friendly shoeing. By the end of Q4, 67% of Brooke-trained Animal Service Providers (ASPs) working as farriers had demonstrated improved skill levels. However, only 43% had access to essential farriery tools and materials, highlighting a continuing need to address resource gaps.

Advancing Farriery Standards Through Collaboration A key milestone was the successful delivery of a follow-up Global Farriery Project (GFP) training in Lahore, supervised by international experts Angus Wiseman and Tom Burch. The training focused on five critical parameters for safe and effective horseshoeing, further strengthening the technical capacity of Brooke-trained farriers.

In February 2025, Brooke Pakistan also hosted the Global Farriery Mentoring Framework (FMF) Workshop, bringing together farriery specialists from Ethiopia, Senegal, and Kenya. The workshop reviewed the use of the FMF, strengthened scoring capacity, and identified opportunities to improve training tools and guidance.

Through continued mentoring, technical learning, and international collaboration, Brooke Pakistan is helping raise farriery standards and embed high-quality, sustainable, and welfare-friendly farriery services within equine-owning communities.
